My Story
Samaritans provide confidential non-judgmental emotional support for people experiencing distress or despair especially suicidal thoughts. Any money that is given helps us to provide telephone, email and face-to-face support as well as outreach activities. The Redbridge branch, based in Ilford, relies on voluntary support and receives over 8,000 contacts annually.
Our FreeCall number is 116 123
• Each call, free to the caller, costs us £10 in running costs.
• Each shift costs us £65 in running costs. We respond to 6-8 calls, on average, during a shift.
• It costs us £140 a day to keep the branch open.
As branch treasurer I can assure you that every penny given goes directly towards the work we do.
